It's Just Child's Play

Leisure Grass UK have helped create many artificial grass outdoor play spaces for children of all ages, from bright coloured artificial grass for the early years through to multi sports pitches for older children and lots in between.

A safe outdoor space is important to children of all ages and at nursery or school is where a lot of their outdoor play will be. Whilst playing outdoors, children learn and develop both socially and emotionally. Exercise ensures that they stay healthy and for the very young children, the creation of mounds or hobbit holes will assist in the development of their fine and gross motor skills. This is also a great way to make learning at play times more exciting and fun, while improving communication and language development. The National Curriculum and Early Years Foundation Framework place all these key development skills at the heart of a child’s learning experience.

Nursery schools and private nurseries across the country are needing to rethink their outdoor spaces to enhance pupil learning. Installing brightly coloured artificial grass, for instance, can assist in generating stimulating games and role play, with blue grass being used to create a river bed, and yellow and red paths providing further landscape to let their imagination run wild.

Many schools are now taking part in the ‘Daily Mile’ and seeing benefits to their pupils’ health. Recent studies have revealed that seven months after starting daily exercise, 5% of children can run further during timed shuttle tests than the children who didn’t take part in the scheme. Importantly, physical activity has been found to boost children’s brain development and function, leaving them feeling more awake, alert, and attentive. Finally, the benefit of an all-weather artificial grass track is no more mud and much less mess to contend with.
